FACE of India 2020 with EDGC, a regional modeling competition before the FACE of ASIA finals in Seoul, singled out five winners on Feb. 22 in Mumbai.
The event was a part of India’s Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DRIFF).
Four winners Omni Thakker, Ekta Maru, Arya Upadhay and Ranaksh Rana ― except Priyanka Kapil ― will advance to the FACE of ASIA. It is the largest model-hunt platform in Asia and part of the 15th Asia Model Festival (AMF) slated for June in Seoul.
The winners will also feature in Indian films.
“FACE of India has been a cultural exchange platform for India and Asia,” Yang Eui-sig, chairman of the Asia Model Festival Organizing Committee (AMFOC), said.
Badal Saboo, the representative of the event’s partner companies in India, said: “I appreciate AMFOC for constructing an ecosystem for Indian models and the fashion industry to set their sights on the Asian market.”
Seoul City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and The Korea Times sponsored the event.
Pramod Kumar, India’s Arts, Culture and Youth Minister, actors Malaika Arora, Tara Sutaria, Mnish Paul and Kiara Advani, fashion designer Nivedita Saboo and K-pop fusion dance group Elixir Crew attended.
In June, 25 Asian countries ― Korea, China, Japan, Mongolia, the Philippines, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Nepal, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Macau, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Arabia, Bangladesh and Taiwan ― will go head-to-head at the Asia Model Festival.
