Face of India, a national qualifying event for the 2020 Asia Model Festival Face of Asia, was held splendidly in Maharashtra, Mumbai, India, on February 22.
It was co-hosted and organized by Asia Model Festival Organizing Committee (AMFOC, Chairman Yang Eui Sik), Badal Saboo, the representative of the Indian event, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the City of Seoul, Seoul Tourism Foundation, The Korea Times, and EDGC. What was special about the competition is that the event held conjointly with India’s prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF), was the main event of the festival.
Yang Yi Sik, chairman of the Asia Model Festival Organizing Committee, said, “Face Of India is serving as the best platform for intercultural exchange through modelling and fashion between Asia and India”
Badal Saboo, co-host and organizer, added, “It’s been seven years since Indian models and fashion had joined the Asia Model Festival to enter the global world through Asia, and I am grateful to Asia Model Festival Organizing Committee for establishing an ecosystem that let everyone all around Asia act together.”
The event featured fashion shows by world-renowned fashion designer Nivedita Saboo, as well as local Indian designers, and included a dance performance of the K-Pop fusion dance group Elixir Crew.
Winners of this year’s competition, namely Omni Thakker, Ekta Maru, Arya Upadhay, Lanaksh Rana, and Priyanka Kapil will not only represent India at Asia Model Festival Face of Asia in Korea but also get an opportunity to star in Indian films.
In addition, famous Indian actors such as Head of the Ministry of Culture of India Pramod Kumar, actors Malaika Arora, Tara Sutaria, Manish Paul, Kiara Advani, and other notable guests attended the event.
Among the finalists who went through regional qualifiers throughout India, Sachin Hadpad, Sameer Qureshi (males), Muskaan Bisaria and Rushali Yadav (females) were selected and invited to participate as Indian representatives in 2018 Asia Model Festival ‘Face of Asia with MyGenomeBox’.
